I don’t know about you guys but personally I do hate Alexa sometimes. The reason being simple-it doesn’t know how to rank sub-domain and domains. Alexa has no idea what to do with subdomains. A blogger using a subdomain can wait many months before getting individualized reports.
Alexa is crap. It bases its traffic reports from what it gets from users who have installed it's toolbar. Mostly these are folks who are webmasters, bloggers or marketers, so sites with less than stellar traffic always get the shaft, and sites not-so tech oriented always get lousy rankings. It's also extremely easy to generate false rankings for yourself.
But Bloggers who make money online can’t afford high Alexa Ranks. The reason being simple- some big money making portals like SponsoredReviews.com, buyblogreviews.com etc rank their bloggers truly on the basis of Alexa Rank. Technorati rank can be easily built up with some link exchange. But for Alexa you need a very big traffic to get good ranks.
Anyways, getting a domain won’t be a problem since google itself provides domain for just $10 for one year.I don’t think that’s a really big amount for money making bloggers.
You said a mouthful and I agree with everything you said. Alexa is crap.
